Hal Cantos is a former employee of the World News Service who now works as a freelance braindance editor. He was fired from the network when he was caught committing fraud. Since then he has scraped a living from street gigs, and one of them, a job for the Mox, has left him trapped and running out of air.
Biography
The Editor
After losing his job, Hal became a known name on the street as a braindance tuner for hire. He took a contract from Lil Bex of the Mox, who was investigating the death of a woman under the gang's protection. Her death had been recorded on a black braindance, and Hal's task was to isolate its code and pull out the original sound and picture, which would help track down the person who recorded it.
The Container
The job turned dangerous. Hal hid in a shipping container nearby and sent a last call for help to his fixer, Regina Jones. With little air left, he waits patiently for the merc Regina sends.
Personality
Hal is calm under pressure and more cynical than most. He keeps his explanations short and denies any blame for the trouble around him, saying only that he expected this day would come.
Relationships
Regina Jones is his fixer. Lil Bex of the Mox hired him. The World News Service fired him.
Jobs
Hal is part of Occupational Hazard, a gig from Regina Jones.
