The Makigai MaiMai E126 is the smallest car allowed on the streets of Night City and the slowest one in the game. It is a two-seat bubble on wheels, with doors that fold up rather than swing out. Nothing about it is quick, but it parks anywhere and it costs almost nothing. Players pick one up for the joke, for a city errand, or because it is the car that happens to be standing there. The MaiMai E126 is common in traffic across Night City from the first hours.
Performance
The small engine drives the rear wheels and asks to be revved. Acceleration is gentle, the top speed is low, and a slope is enough to slow it further. The light body turns easily in traffic and slips through gaps that stop a sports car, which makes the MaiMai better in a crowded street than its figures suggest. It also breaks easily, so a hit from a bigger vehicle usually ends the drive.
How to Get Makigai MaiMai E126 Guide
- Take one from any street in Night City.
Lore
Makigai is a Japanese maker of cheap city cars, and the MaiMai is the cheapest of them. The Database sums the car up in one line as the smallest mass-produced car permitted on the streets of Night City. The body style has a name of its own, the bubble car, which is another word for a micro-car.
A female robotic voice greets the driver in Japanese on the way in and says goodbye on the way out. The shape has a long history in the city, and a MaiMai sits on the cover of the entropism style poster and on two Bushido comic covers.
Notes
- It resembles the small city cars of the mid-twentieth century.
