Table Scraps is a reported crime in North Oak, Westbrook. Jalapeño Joe moved to the richest part of the city to live off what the wealthy throw away. He threatened anyone who came near his new turf. But scavenging in North Oak takes a permit, and corporate security made sure he never got one.
Story
Sloppy Seconds
The journal is angry. In North Oak, a permit is needed just to pick through the leftovers of the rich. Jalapeño Joe did not have one, so he had to go. He was killed by corporate lackeys. The sooner this city burns, the journal says, the better.
Paradise
A chat on a shard shows Joe with his old partner, Kadeem Brown. Kadeem had not seen him for a month. Joe explains that he moved to North Oak at the last minute. It is wonderful there. People throw out designer clothes with the tags still on, unopened food, and even the odd implant. Kadeem thinks it sounds like paradise and offers to move there too, so they can team up again. Joe refuses. If Kadeem sets foot there, he will get a bullet in the back of the head, like the others who tried. This is Joe's turf now. Kadeem blocks him.
