Second Chances is a cyberpsycho sighting for Regina Jones in the Badlands. A sniper's bullets have blown out car tyres and killed Raffen Shiv along the road. The cyberpsycho is an old soldier who took a job from the Voodoo Boys, and came out of it believing he had met the guardian between life and death, and was given a second chance to serve the Loa.
Story
Who Grants the Chance
The journal reflects that everyone deserves a second chance, and Regina knows that better than most. But who gives that chance, and who receives it, are questions worth asking.
The Guardian
A shard holds the soldier's message to his old brothers in arms. He knows many of them drift through life, living hand to mouth while apathy eats their souls, and he writes to reassure them: their purpose is right in front of them. He took a simple job from the Voodoo Boys, aim and pull the trigger, and confirmed it done the same day. Then, instead of his pay, a bright light filled his vision, and the guardian of the border between the living and the dead appeared before him.
Now his life makes sense again. He tells his friends not to lose hope, as they too will be tested and given a second chance. He is opening the way to the sacred land with sacrifices to the Loa, and calls on them to join him and fight side by side once more.
The Scene
A Raffen Shiv lies dead from a sniper round. A car's front tyre was shot out at range. A painting nearby shows a creature from the iconography of the Voodoo Boys.
