The Ash of War: Shield Crash is an Ash of War in Elden Ring that grants the Standard affinity and the Shield Crash skill. It is a mid-game find.
Shield Crash two-hands the shield and charges forward while keeping the guard up, ramming every foe in the way before a final forceful bash. Holding the button extends the charge, adding more hits and distance. It deals much more damage than Shield Bash, hits several times and chases fleeing enemies well. It suits shield builds that want a guarded charge to break through groups.
Stats
It grants the Standard affinity and a Whetblade can switch it to Keen, Heavy, Quality, Fire, Flame Art, Lightning, Sacred, Magic, Cold, Poison, Blood or Occult. The skill costs 12 FP and can be charged. It fits Small Shield, Medium Shield, Greatshield and Thrusting Shield.
How to Get Ash of War: Shield Crash Guide
- Dropped by a Teardrop Scarab in the Lux Ruins in the Altus Plateau, on the northern side of the ruined church at the top of the hill.
- From the Altus Plateau Site of Grace, head north through the upper ruins past the Demi-Humans to reach it.
- Once obtained, it can be duplicated by trading Lost Ashes of War to Smithing Master Hewg at the Roundtable Hold.

Skill
A short tap gives a quick charge, while holding the button commits to a longer run that can deal around twice the damage of Shield Bash if every hit lands. There is a brief unguarded moment at the start, so it should not be started directly into an enemy swing. Shields with innate status effects benefit greatly from the multiple hits.
