Iron Fist Alexander leaves it after his final duel in Crumbling Farum Azula at the end of his questline.

1. Free Iron Fist Alexander from the hole in northern Stormhill by striking him from behind.
2. After Starscourge Radahn falls, talk to him near the Starscourge Radahn Site of Grace in the Wailing Dunes.
3. Talk to him in the lava pool beside a Magma Wyrm on Mt. Gelmir.
4. Defeat the Fire Giant and press on to Crumbling Farum Azula.
5. Find Alexander on a floating ruin near the Dragon Temple Lift Site of Grace and accept his duel.
6. Defeat him, exhaust his dialogue and pick up the shard.
