Astel, Stars of Darkness is a dungeon boss in Elden Ring.
Astel, Stars of Darkness is a stronger copy of the star creature that guards the Grand Cloister. It waits at the end of Yelough Anix Tunnel in the Consecrated Snowfield. The fight mixes gravity magic, teleports and a deadly grab. It rewards the Meteorite of Astel sorcery and a large sum of runes.
Lore
Astel has a long insect body built from orbs of many-colored star debris. A segmented tail curls behind it like a scorpion's, and thin translucent wings rise from its back. Its six limbs end in grasping human hands. Its head is a cracked human skull with huge mandibles, and a single blue eye glows through the crack.
Astel was a malformed star born in a flightless void far away. It once fell upon an Eternal City, destroyed it and took away its sky. The sorcerers of gravity later named it a falling star of ill omen. Its power to level a city lives on in the Meteorite of Astel.

Attacks
- Pincer combo: a quick string of claw strikes at close range. A roll through the last swing opens the head to a counter.
- Glowing pincer grab: the claws glow purple before a grab. A sideways roll as the claws close avoids it.
- Tail sweep: a long reaching tail strike at middle range that can kill in one hit. A well-timed roll through the tail avoids it.
- Teleport grab: below about half health Astel vanishes and drops from above to grab. Looking up and rolling as it lands avoids the grab.
- Clone grab: near the end of the fight many copies of Astel drop in a ring. Standing in the center of the ring and rolling late avoids every copy.
- Exploding void clouds: purple clouds burst after a delay. Leaving the cloud before it bursts avoids the damage.
Tactics
- Bring a spirit ash that can draw attention, such as a tanky summon, because the boss has a lot of health.
- Fight close to the head, because the head is the weak spot and the bite attacks are easy to dodge from there.
- Punish the long recovery after a pincer attack with one or two jump attacks to build stance damage.
- Watch the sky after every teleport and be ready to roll when Astel drops down.
- Move to the middle of the arena when the clones appear and roll as they land.
- Use physical damage over magic, fire, lightning or holy, because Astel resists all four elements strongly.
