Cleanrot Knight is a dungeon boss in Elden Ring.
The Cleanrot Knight is a golden knight of Malenia's personal order. One fights alone at the end of Stillwater Cave in Liurnia of the Lakes. Two more wait together at the end of the Abandoned Cave in Caelid, where the second knight rises from the rot after the battle starts. Both caves are flooded with poison or rot, so the arena itself wears the player down.
Lore
The Cleanrot Knight is a tall warrior in golden armor trimmed with tufts of crimson fur. A slender thrusting sword hangs at its side as a second weapon. Most knights carry a long spear with a small shield on the shaft, while their commanders carry a curved halo scythe.
The Cleanrot Knights swore to fight beside Malenia, Blade of Miquella. They held to that vow even as the scarlet rot slowly ate away their flesh. Their calm acceptance of this fate made their battles the fiercest of all. Each knight carries a Winged Sword Insignia in honor of Malenia's relentless blade.
Where to find Cleanrot Knight Location?
- Stillwater Cave, a single Cleanrot Knight with a spear in the flooded chamber at the end of the cave (Liurnia of the Lakes)
- Abandoned Cave, a pair of Cleanrot Knights, one with a spear and one with a sickle, at the end of the rot-filled cave (Caelid)

| Resists | Slash, Holy |
| Immune | Scarlet Rot, Madness |
| Parry | Yes |
Attacks
- Jab and Triple Jab: the knight pulls its sword arm back and stabs. A roll to either side clears it.
- Rushdown: the spear glows gold and the knight sprints forward with it lowered. A roll to the side as soon as the glow appears avoids it.
- Impale: a rising spear thrust that skewers the target and inflicts scarlet rot at once. A sideways roll as the spear pulls back avoids it.
- Sacred Phalanx: the knight drags its spear along the ground and holy spears erupt in a line. Circling around its right side keeps clear of the glowing trail.
- Spear Guard: the knight crosses spear and sword to block, then shoves forward if struck. Backing off until the guard drops avoids the shove.
- Halo rings: the sickle knight in the Abandoned Cave throws golden rings of light from range. Strafing and keeping cover between the knights limits them.
Tactics
- Bring cures for the arena. Stillwater Cave builds up poison and the Abandoned Cave builds up scarlet rot, so Neutralizing Boluses or Preserving Boluses help.
- Carry a torch or lantern, because both caves are dark for most of the route.
- Stay close and slightly to the knight's left to bait its slow spear thrusts.
- Circle behind the knight during a long wind-up and land a backstab.
- Stop attacking the moment the knight raises Spear Guard, or it answers with a counter.
- In the Abandoned Cave, focus one knight at a time and keep both in view so neither flanks from behind.
- Throw Fire Pots or use fire damage, because the knights take extra damage from fire.
Best Builds
Fire damage with pots or a fire weapon
The knights take extra damage from fire and have low health, so a few Fire Pots do heavy damage even at low level.
| Gear | Fire Pot |
|---|
Spirit ash support with a group summon
Several spirits split the knights' attention, which matters most in the two-knight fight.
| Gear | Skeletal Militiamen Ashes |
|---|
Heavy weapon with charged attacks
Charged attacks break the knight's stance and open it to a critical hit.
Summons
Spirit Ashes allowed
