The Spear is a Spear in Elden Ring.

When to Use It

Early game. It is found around Stormveil Castle, in the opening stretch of a run, so it is one of the first real upgrades you can carry.

Upgrades

Ordinary Smithing Stones carry it all the way to +25, and because it is not a Somber weapon it will also hold a grease or a weapon buff, which is a damage source the unique blades simply do not have.

Build

Its scaling runs Str at E and Dex at D, so Dex is the stat worth levelling, and you need Str 12 and Dex 15 before you can lift it. Any Ash of War and any affinity will sit on it, so its scaling can be re-cut towards whichever stat you are already levelling.

Notes

Weapon comprised of a blade attached to a long shaft. A far-reaching piercing weapon, it can be wielded from behind the safety of a raised shield. Very effective against mounted foes.

How to Get Spear Guide

2% chance to be dropped from the Exile Soldiers that wield it in Stormveil Castle.
A +7 version is dropped by Patches if he is killed, whether at his original spot in Murkwater Cave or at any point of his questline.
