The Lake of Rot is a great cavern of red, rotting water deep beneath Liurnia of the Lakes. It lies downstream of the Ainsel River. Its waters build up Scarlet Rot in anyone who wades through them. Ruins of an ancient dynasty rise from the lake. The Grand Cloister stands at its far end, on the path to the Moonlight Altar.

Lore
The divine essence of an outer god is said to be sealed in this lake. A blind swordsman with a flowing sword defeated that god long ago. The servants of rot still keep their presence here, and the Kindred of Rot fill the Grand Cloister.
Geography
A lift south-west of the Nokstella Waterfall Basin Site of Grace leads down to the northern shore. The Lake of Rot Shoreside Site of Grace waits at the bottom. Pillars stand on small islands in the lake. Their stone plates raise platforms out of the water and open safer paths across.
The Grand Cloister lies to the south, down the stairs beside a waterfall. A coffin in the cloister sails down to the arena of Astel, Naturalborn of the Void. Beyond Astel, the Deep Ainsel Well rises to the Moonlight Altar.
Bosses
Astel, Naturalborn of the Void waits beneath the Grand Cloister. A Dragonkin Soldier guards the lake, and an Alabaster Lord waits atop one of the pillars.
