Mimic Tear

Mimic Tear
Type Great Boss
Region Nokron, Eternal City, Consecrated Snowfield
Required No

Mimic Tear is a great boss in Elden Ring.

The Mimic Tear is a silver creature that becomes a perfect copy of the Tarnished. One waits in a ruined temple in Nokron, Eternal City. A second, the Stray Mimic Tear, waits in the catacombs of the Hidden Path to the Haligtree. Each copies the player's armor, weapons, spells and items at the moment the fight begins.

Lore

The Mimic Tear first appears as a bead of liquid silver. When the Tarnished draws near, it rises and takes their exact shape. It wears the same armor and wields the same weapons and spells.

The people of the Eternal City created a special Silver Tear that could copy any foe completely. The Silver Tears make a mockery of life, reborn again and again as imitations. The people hoped that one day such a tear might be reborn as a lord.

Where to find Mimic Tear Location?

  • Nokron, Eternal City, behind a mist gate in a ruined temple (Nokron, Eternal City Site of Grace)
  • Hidden Path to the Haligtree, as the Stray Mimic Tear in the catacombs below the path (Consecrated Snowfield)

Attacks

  • The Mimic Tear copies the player's own weapons, spells and skills. Its attacks are dodged the same way as the player's own moves.
  • It drinks a healing flask once during the fight.
  • Without weapons it falls back on punches and thrown glass shards.

Tactics

  1. Unequip weapons, armor and spells before stepping through the mist.
  2. Wait for the Mimic Tear to copy the bare character, then equip the full kit again.
  3. Attack with the strongest stance-breaking moves, then follow up with a critical hit or backstab.
  4. Use status effects, since they work well against this copy of a human.
  5. Summon spirit ashes to split its attention if the copy carries a strong build.

Best Builds

Fight without gear, then re-equip

The Mimic Tear copies only what is worn when it transforms, so a bare copy is easy to overpower.

Self-harming skill on the copy

A katana with Seppuku makes the copy hurt itself every time it uses the skill.

Gear Ash of War: Seppuku

Deathblight

The Mimic Tear can die instantly to deathblight from Fia's Mist, Death Lightning or the Eclipse Shotel.
