The Death Lightning is a Dragon Cult incantation in Elden Ring. It can be picked up early in a run.
Death Lightning channels the power of the ancient dragon Fortissax, now corrupted by Death, and its golden lightning was said to be wielded by Godwyn, who befriended the dragon. It calls down a storm of death lightning around the caster that deals heavy lightning damage and builds up Death Blight, while lingering clouds add even more buildup, and charging sends more bolts over a wider area. The bolts land randomly, so the spell is notoriously unreliable against small foes and inaccurate even against large bosses, and Death Blight only affects players and player-like enemies. The Gravel Stone Seal, the Godfrey Icon for charged casts and the Death Knight set boost it. It suits dragon cult faith builds and players chasing powerful but unpredictable area damage.
Effect
Calls down a storm of death lightning around the caster that builds up Death Blight, with lingering clouds adding more; charging extends the storm. Each cast costs 28 FP and 32 stamina and takes up two memory slots.
