Manathor
Manathor is the eldest of the Ancients in Enshrouded. He was the most senior member of their council of elders, ahead of Eldermere, Claravinta and Ezramin. His team dug up the living root from which the blue Elixir was first distilled. The sky island Manathor's Plaza in Cinder's Cradle bears his name.
Lore
Manathor led an expedition into a cave in the Albaneve Summits. Tendrils led the team to a heart: a fungal root that looked rotten but was alive. It changed shape when watched and copied the matter around it. Manathor hoped it held the secret of long life. His team distilled it into a shimmering blue Elixir. The notes on the dig lie at the Frontier Research Lab. The Elixir later vanished from storage, and only a scrap of dark, tattered cloth was left behind.
His notes at Manathor's Plaza explain how the Ancients live. The Mother Flame gives each Ancient a spark, its soul, and takes it back when the Ancient returns with what it has learned. A spark needs a shell to live in, and shells crumble to dust at the end. The Mother Flame once made a new spark every solstice. Now one comes only once a decade, and Manathor blames the young Ancients who meddled with humanity.
Even so, doubt troubled him. He heard voices in the Flame speaking of fathers, brothers and sons. They told him that Ancients were once born, died and were remembered. As the eldest he felt the Mother Flame's pull, but he refused her call.
The obelisk of Cinder's Cradle says that Manathor faded away at the end of the world.
