Powerful Alchemy rescues Balthazar, the Alchemist, who holds great knowledge of potions and spells. He sleeps in the Ancient Vault - Alchemist. Rescuing him unlocks potions, spells and many later quests, and gives 1000 XP.
Walkthrough
The quest step by step:
- Finish The Ancient Spires, then speak to the Flame.
- Travel to the Ancient Vault - Alchemist.
- Work through the vault and wake the sleeping Alchemist.
- Summon him in the base with the Summoning Staff.
The vault also holds a gold chest in its lava chamber and a silver chest on its south-western tower. The vault's own page has the routes.

Prerequisites
This quest follows The Ancient Spires, which the Blacksmith gives after Clear The Elixir Well. The Blacksmith explains that climbing an Ancient Spire reveals more of the Springlands. The player reaches the nearby spire, finds a way inside and unlocks its knowledge, which also opens a fast travel point. Once it is done, the Flame marks the Ancient Vault where the Alchemist sleeps. Summoning him at the base unlocks potions, spells and mage gear.
