Quarried Stone is the second of the three Hearthfire building materials. It comes out of stone quarries, which sit beside each of the three building plots, and it goes into the shell of the house: the walls, the towers and the foundations.
Acquisition
A stone quarry works like a clay deposit rather than an ore vein. It never runs dry, and three swings of a pickaxe give four samples. Between the quarry and the clay deposit on the same plot, a house can be built without buying anything.
Requirements
A full compound runs to hundreds of pieces once the wings, the cellar and the towers are added, which is why the unlimited deposits matter. Your steward will supply stone on request if the mining becomes tedious.
Building materials are consumed at the carpenter's workbench rather than at a forge, and none of them raise Smithing.
