The Hearth is the stone fire that a longhouse is built around. For fifteen stone from the Lighting menu you get a broad fire bed that warms a whole room and holds a Cooking Station or two on top.

How to Build It

It costs fifteen Stone and needs a Stonecutter in range, not a Workbench. The floor underneath is what catches builders out. The Hearth wants solid ground, a stone floor or something properly supported, and it breaks the moment you place it on an unsupported wooden floor. It also needs cover, because rain and hard wind put it out, and its smoke has to escape through a hole in the roof.
