The Scurver is a Necrophage and a larger cousin of the Rotfiend. Scurvers live in Toussaint and are met in the Blood and Wine expansion.

Lore

Thibaut from Beauclair once took a scurver for a pile of rotten meat. Then it started to move.

A scurver is a hideous creature with a vaguely human shape. Rotten scraps of flesh cover its body. Under them lie even more rotten muscles, stretched over a strong and flexible skeleton. Sharp, bony spines stick out from that skeleton.

Behaviour

Scurvers feed on old, rotting corpses. They prefer to hunt in abandoned torture sites, forgotten graveyards and old battlefields. They usually feed underground. When they catch the scent of a human, they crawl to the surface in a matter of seconds. They are very aggressive, and they attack the living too. Anyone who walks near such places must take special care.

Weaknesses

Coat the silver sword with Necrophage Oil. A scurver fights much like a rotfiend, until the very end.

When a scurver is near death, the gases and juices inside its body make it explode. The blast flings its bony spines out at great speed. This last weapon reaches farther than a rotfiend's blast. Keep Quen up to stop the spines, or get well clear before the scurver bursts.

Scurvers appear in The Beast of Toussaint, a main quest of Blood and Wine. The knight Milton leads the way to the riverbank where the Beast's latest victim was found. A group of scurvers waits there. They have to be cleared before the search of the riverbank can go on.
