Relicts

Relicts are a varied species, and many of them are tied to the wild woods. They include Leshens and Spriggans, which rule the plants and animals of their forests, horned Fiends and Chorts, mischievous Sylvans and shapeshifting Dopplers. They range from timid spirits that avoid bloodshed to some of the most dangerous monsters known to man.

Leshens live in dense, ancient woods. They use their inborn magic to command plants, crows and wolves, and the oldest of them are especially dangerous. Spriggans are a subspecies of Leshen. They guard rarely visited woods in Toussaint and punish anyone who destroys the plants there. Sylvans are part goat and part plump man, and they keep to harmless tricks and stolen crops. Godlings quietly watch over the villages near their burrows.

Fiends are walking mountains of muscle, and their third eye can hypnotize their prey. Chorts are their smaller relatives. They wreck farms and eat everything in them. Shaelmaars are blind, burrowing beasts as big as a barn. Dopplers can take the form of any humanoid or animal. The Crones are three sisters older than humans, elves and dwarves, and they rule Velen from Crookback Bog.

Witchers coat their blades with Relict Oil. Igni is the great weakness of Leshens and Spriggans, and Dimeritium Bombs help against them. Fiends fear loud noise, so Samum and Devil's Puffball bombs are some of the best tools against them. Aard or a Samum bomb can lure a charging Shaelmaar into a wall.
