Bruce Welby is a smuggler who was caught by Militech while crossing the border with hot cargo. He is a friend of Archibald Crane, a Militech employee.

Biography

Bruce tried to cross the state line between Night City and South California, and it did not go to plan. Militech border security chained him up for several days in its detention centre on Coachwhip Lane, in Jackson Plains. His friend Archie learned what had happened and asked Dakota Smith to get him out. In Goodbye, Night City, V finds Bruce sitting by a tent in the detention area, watched by a turret, and leads him to Archie.

When the Aldecaldos prepare their assault on Arasaka Tower, Bruce can be found at their camp, standing outside the weapons tent.

The Militech camp's records list him among the detainees held in the main building while each case is reviewed. Every prisoner was scanned for hidden cyberware and examined, and no major threats were found. Dakota's brief puts his situation simply: sometimes a person needs a friend to lean on, and sometimes a friend to break them out of an immigrant detention centre on the border.
