The Aldecaldos are one of the oldest and largest nomad nations in North America. They live in camps in the deserts near Night City, in RVs that double as workshops and in souped-up cars. Today the clan is made up of families spread across America, always on the move. They smuggle and transport goods for anyone willing to pay, and they hold to the family values they were founded on.
History
Juan Aldecaldo
The family began in Los Angeles with Juan Aldecaldo, an immigrant engineer who lost his job and his home and ended up in the city's worst slums. His daughter died in a car accident, and his son was shot dead after falling in with a street gang. When reporters came to him, Juan attacked the police, the media and the President on live television for doing nothing about gang violence. His words drew thousands of grieving people to his son's funeral.
With a local priest, Juan formed an armed neighbourhood watch to protect the block around the priest's mission. It grew as more people joined and began driving the gangs out, until a large part of East Los Angeles was free of them. The city's leaders disliked how the watch showed up their police. When it became clear that Los Angeles would never change, thousands of the watch's people left the city together and became the first true nomad family.
On the Road
The Aldecaldos lived on farm work at first, until a nuclear accident destroyed Pittsburgh and the government hired them to salvage what they could from the ruins. That contract made their fortune. They later rebuilt parts of Mexico City and took in soldiers trying to cross the border on foot. Juan died in Mexico and named Santiago as his successor. During this time the clan also hid Johnny Silverhand after smuggling him out of the country.
Night City
After the nuclear blast in Night City, the Aldecaldos helped rescue survivors and built shelters around the city. They set up a semi-permanent camp near the Coronado dam, and their presence shaped the southern part of Heywood that became Santo Domingo. Today the clan, led by Saul Bright, has come back to the Badlands looking for work.

Way of Life
The Aldecaldos are known for salvaging and rebuilding ruined cities, for farm work and for smuggling, and they also take mercenary work. Some of their families do nothing but carry packages along the nomad trail to the great crime cities. Their caravans move people and goods across state borders in large, well-guarded convoys. They never camp all in one place at the same time. They favour reflex boosters and heavily modified cars and bikes.
Saul's own pack, the Bright family, is known for smuggling, and many of its members fought in the Unification War. To save his people, Saul tries to strike a deal with Biotechnica for steady work and gear to grow crops in the desert. Panam Palmer fights hard against any deal with a corporation, believing the family should stay free. The clan is also at war with the Wraiths, the Raffen Shiv of the Badlands.
