A Bad Feeling

The journal says only this: a bad feeling, a really bad feeling.

The License

Mails on a computer tell how it started. Gaston got a cease and desist from Zetatech, saying he used the lift in his shop without a license. He had bought the whole shop from them, with his life's savings. His lawyer, Laurent Lawless, checked. Gaston had bought only the building: four walls, a floor and a ceiling. The equipment was not part of the deal, and it cost about twice as much as the shop itself.

The Foreclosure

A notice on a nearby body ends it. Gaston failed to meet the terms of his agreement and to answer the demand for payment, so the property passes to Zetatech within two days. There is no appeal.

Stop! Don't Do It

On Gaston, V finds his own warning to anyone thinking of buying the shop. The great location and the top shelf equipment fool no one: none of it will ever belong to the buyer. He had not read the agreement, and had not checked that the shop had changed hands three times that year, its earlier owners vanishing and leaving only their debts. He had dealt with gangs wanting protection money before, but nobody had ever cheated him like the suits at Zetatech. His answer: a wrench to the face and a vice for their fingers.

3. Find the cyberpsycho, Gaston Phillips.
4. Neutralise him, ideally without killing him.
5. Search the area: read the mails on the computer, the "Foreclosure Notice No. 23HT/15" on a nearby body, and "Stop! Don't do it" on Gaston.
6. Message Regina about the sighting.
