Zetatech
Type Corporation

Zetatech is a corporation that makes chips, computer hardware and software, drones and aircraft. It started as a small company in Cupertino, California, but has always had a strong presence in Night City. For a long time it was seen as second-rate, living in the shadow of giants like Arasaka and Militech. Today its products match the quality of its rivals at a lower price, and its AVs and drones are used by almost every megacorporation.

History

The Climb

Zetatech made its way in the industry through spying and well-placed violence. It tried to grow overseas, and in an early corporate war it sided with Orbital Air and launched a great attack in the net on another computer giant, which beat it back and knocked it out of the war.

After the War

After the war between Arasaka and Militech, many rivals were weak or out of business. Zetatech grabbed many government contracts during the rebuilding years and grew fast. It became a household name for cheap 3D printers and for software agents, then moved heavily into aircraft, drones and robots. Its first combat helicopter, the Valgus, was slow, but its reliability showed what the company could do, and it still flies today. Its headquarters in Night City is the Zetatech building on Berkeley Avenue.

Way of Life

Zetatech stays neutral with every corporation and government, so its products are used on both sides of a war. It is a world leader in cyberware and in air transport, with products for every budget, and a major shipping business as well. Its success is not only a matter of good machines: its chief lobbyist in Night City is on first-name terms with most of the city's powerful people, and personal connections sell AVs better than specifications.

Business

The Atlus, its flagship AV, is the most popular AV in Night City, and its hum can be heard day and night in every district. Trauma Team and the news crews of N54 both fly it. The giant Surveyor carries troops and passengers, and Kang Tao and MaxTac use it. Zetatech's drones range from the Bombus, a cheap caretaker drone that couriers, police and gangs have all put to their own uses, to the Octant, a combat drone favoured by dictators around the world.

Jobs

The Scraper gang in Dogtown raided a Zetatech convoy and stole an Arasaka optic prototype. The gig Prototype in the Scraper is about getting it back.

Notes

In the Phantom Liberty ending where V wakes from a long coma, Zetatech has grown greatly and taken over Misty's shop, where Viktor now works for it.
