Talent Academy
Type Gig
Fixer Mr. Hands
Region Pacifica
DLC Phantom Liberty

Talent Academy is a Phantom Liberty gig from Mr. Hands in Dogtown, Pacifica. A sports academy run by Fiona Vargas signs young athletes to scouts from all over the world, wires them large transfers, and dodges taxes along the way. Hands' client wants the data on every scout and contract. V goes in posing as a recruiter for a San Diego team, and finds that the athletes on show are children loaded with chrome.

Story

Shocking

Mr. Hands mocks the crime in the journal. Can V believe some people avoid paying their taxes? Shocking. The guilty ones are the sports scouts who fly in from around the globe to the centre run by Fiona Vargas. They sign promising athletes, wire sizeable transfers, and skip the taxes while they are at it. The client is not thrilled. V is to take any data tied to Fiona's clients and their contracts. Getting in will not be easy, so Hands' netrunner will help from nearby.

The Cover

Hands' netrunner, Baird, waits near the entrance. He explains the cover: V is a recruiter for a San Diego sports team. When V asks for more detail, he refuses. The fake identity only has to get V through the door, and V should not talk about it once inside.

The Exhibition Hall

The receptionist explains that everything inside is under a non disclosure agreement. In the bar, it becomes clear that these are not young athletes, but kids far too young for chrome and cyberware. If V tells the bartender about the San Diego team, a man nearby claims to have worked with them, and starts asking about the club's staff. Without good answers, a guard takes V away for another security check.

Fiona

Fiona's office lies one floor below the main floor. Inside, a boy named Tommie Walker is going through the drawers. When V tries to pull the data, the download fails, and Fiona walks in. She makes V an offer: she will leak some less important data instead, enough to satisfy the client.

Talent Academy Walkthrough

Getting In

  1. Go to the spot Mr. Hands marks and talk to his contact, Baird.
  2. Take the lift to the exhibition hall.
  3. Talk to the receptionist if desired.

The Bar Route

  1. Sit at the bar. Telling the bartender V does not want to chat lets a kid crack the glass in front of him, and the bartender walks off.
  2. Slip through the unwatched "Personnel only" door into the staff areas.

The Security Check

  1. Or tell the bartender about the San Diego team, and fail the questions.
  2. Follow the guard to the security check, which fails, turning the academy hostile.
  3. In the back room, open the window to get into the office, and use the computer to open the sports medicine door across the hall.

The Back Way

  1. Or turn right straight after leaving the lift, to a guarded technical back office where the academy's netrunner works.
  2. Use the computer there to shut down the cameras.
  3. Crawl through the vent into the shaft and drop into a lab in the underground facility.

Fiona's Office

  1. Go down the stairs past guards and cameras to Fiona's office.
  2. Talk to Tommie if desired.
  3. Download the data from Fiona's terminal.
  4. Talk to Fiona.
  5. Leave the centre.

Choices

Fiona's Offer

V can stick to the original plan or take Fiona's offer to leak minor data. V can also ask about Tommie's chances of being signed, and take her deal to make sure he is. The reward is the same either way, and Mr. Hands is satisfied. If V turns her down, enemies come after V on the way out.

V can also kill Fiona after deciding on her offer. Johnny appears and approves, and her lift key gives a shortcut to the ground floor.

Rewards

Completing Talent Academy pays €$ 8,000, 1,832 experience and 167 Street Cred.

The gig pays eddies.

Tips

The lift is disabled after the gig, and the exhibition hall can no longer be visited. A double jump is needed to climb back into the vent from the lab.

Notes

  • After the gig, Tommie Walker can be found helping his father, David Walker, at the EBM Petrochem Stadium. If V shut the facility down and tells his father, he resents V for ruining Tommie's one chance to get out of Dogtown.
