The Lifetaker is one of the best Greatswords obtainable for free early on in Dragon's Dogma 2. The greatsword exstream weight gives each blow immense power. The weapon is wieldable by the Warrior vocation.
A sturdy greatsword fashioned of three distinct blade cores. Its heft lends each blow overwhelming power.
How to get Lifetaker and Map Location
Lifetaker is sold for 17,000 G.
- Merchant: Celeste's Smithy in Checkpoint Rest Town
- Quest: Reward from Beren's Final Lesson
- By defeating Skeleton Lord
- Can be looted early from chest in Collapsed Mine northwest of Vernworth. To obtain the Lifetaker greatsword you must climb up the large ledge. You can do this by using the 'Go!' command to instruct a Fighter Pawn to use their Launchboard ability (assuming they have it), to launch you up onto the ledge (See video guide at 11:00 for a full walkthrough).

Lifetaker Quest Guide
Beren's Final Lesson is a side quest given by Beren in Moonglow Garden. It opens once Claw Them Into Shape is complete and you seek Beren out at his new post.
- Travel to Moonglow Garden in Northern Vermund, southwest of the Borderwatch Outpost, and meet Beren.
- Defeat the Cyclops that chases Randall down the hill. Beren, his recruits and your Pawns fight alongside you.
- Rest at the nearby campsite until the next day, then return to Beren at the same spot.
- Speak with Beren before he leaves to collect his greatsword, Lifetaker, and the gold.
- Follow Beren to his next home south of Checkpoint Rest Town in Battahl. The border opens as the main quest progresses.
- Speak with Beren there to receive Champion's Fable, which teaches the Warrior skill Arc of Might.

Smithing Upgrade Guide
Every weapon can be enhanced three times at an armoury or smithy, each time for gold and the materials listed below, and a fourth time with Wyrmfire. Any armoury or smithy works on weapons and armour alike. Each smith works in one style, and you can mix styles from one level to the next.
- Vermundian raises every attribute moderately. Armouries and smithies in Vermund offer it, such as Roderick's Smithy and Bjorn's Armory in Vernworth.
- Elven raises Magick and Magick Defense greatly, Strength and Defense only a little. Grisha's Armory in Sacred Arbor offers it.
- Battahli raises Strength and Defense greatly, Magick and Magick Defense only a little. Armouries in Battahl offer it, such as Awaran's Arms and Bodas's Armory in Bakbattahl.
- Dwarven raises Knockdown Power and Knockdown Resistance. Sara at Brokkr's Smithy offers it after Steeled Resolve, Blazing Forge, and Gautstafr after Put a Spring in Thy Step.
- Wyrmfire halves the weight and gives a further boost once the first three enhancements are done. The Dragonforged at Bay Wayside Shrine takes payment in Wyrmslife Crystals instead of gold.

Taking Lifetaker to level 3 costs 7,990 G in all, whichever style you choose. Battahli smithing gives it the most Strength at level 3 (227), while Dwarven gives the most Knockdown Power (385). Wyrmfire then costs 15 Wyrmslife Crystals.
