The Ash of War: Swift Slash is an Ash of War in Elden Ring that grants the Keen affinity and the Swift Slash skill. It comes from the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion.
Swift Slash is a technique of the hornsent swordsmen: the wielder takes a swift forward step to slice through foes with both blades, leaving a trail of shearing vacuum behind. Charging the skill greatly extends the dash and raises its damage and stance damage. The wielder becomes hard to hit during the dash, passing straight through enemies. It suits Dexterity builds running backhand blades, especially in player fights.
Stats
It grants the Keen affinity and a Whetblade can switch it to Standard, Heavy, Quality, Fire, Flame Art, Lightning, Sacred, Magic, Cold, Poison, Blood or Occult. The skill costs 16 FP and can be charged. It fits Backhand Blade.
How to Get Ash of War: Swift Slash Guide
- Given by Hornsent after answering his golden summon sign to help him against Needle Knight Leda, who invades him on the battlements of Shadow Keep just before the Storehouse, First Floor Site of Grace.
- It comes with Leda's Rune and ends Leda's questline until Enir-Ilim.
- The summon sign disappears once Messmer the Impaler has been encountered.
- Once obtained, it can be duplicated by trading Lost Ashes of War to Smithing Master Hewg at the Roundtable Hold.

Skill
The dash passes through and past the target, so the vacuum hits after the wielder has already moved on, making it safe against slow attackers. The repeated vacuum hits build status effects well. Even without FP the dash still works as a movement tool, which helps cross swamps, lava and other slowing ground.
