Lichdragon Fortissax is a legendary boss in Elden Ring.
Lichdragon Fortissax is the ancient dragon who became the friend of Godwyn the Golden. He is fought at the end of Fia's questline, beyond the Prince of Death's Throne in the Deeproot Depths. His red lightning hits hard and his attacks also build up death blight. Defeating him is needed for the Age of the Duskborn ending.
Lore
Fortissax is a massive four-winged black dragon, scarred by death. Red lightning crackles over his body, and he forms twin stakes of lightning to hurl at his foes.
Fortissax was once called the mightiest boulderstone. His twin red lightning stakes were his mark in the war of the ancient dragons. Godwyn the Golden fought him to the last and defeated him, then befriended his fallen foe. Their bond gave rise to the ancient dragon cult of the royal capital.
On the Night of the Black Knives, Godwyn died in soul alone, and his body was left in undeath. Fortissax fought long and hard against the Death that took root within his friend. In the end he was overcome by it and became the Lichdragon.

Attacks
- Twin lightning spears: he forms red lightning stakes and stabs them down one after another. A sideways roll as each one lands avoids it.
- Lightning barrier: lightning charges fall around him while he is surrounded by red lightning. Keeping moving avoids the strikes.
- Rearing fire breath: he rears up and breathes flame. Staying at the side of the head avoids it and opens the head for a counter.
- Double bite: two fast bites at the head's level. A roll to the side, then a thrust to the head, punishes it.
- Death blight: his attacks build up deathblight, which kills instantly when full.
Tactics
- Eat Lightningproof Dried Liver and Boiled Crab, and cast Lightning Fortification before the fight.
- Equip the Prince of Death's Pustule or Cyst, or bring Rejuvenating Boluses, to handle death blight.
- Equip the Boltdrake Talisman for extra lightning protection.
- Stand in front of the head and punish each attack, because the head takes double damage.
- Turn off lock-on so the camera does not fight the dragon's large body.
- Use thrusting weapons and multi-hit spells, and avoid lightning or holy damage.
