Putrid Grave Warden Duelist is a dungeon boss in Elden Ring.
The Putrid Grave Warden Duelist is a rot-ridden gladiator who guards the deepest chamber of the Consecrated Snowfield Catacombs. He swings a huge greataxe with an iron ball on a chain. His attacks spread scarlet rot as well as raw damage. He is slow, so patient players can punish nearly every swing.
Lore
The Duelist is a huge, heavily muscled warrior whose bronze helm is covered with sculpted snakes. His body is swollen with scarlet rot. He carries a colossal greataxe with a heavy iron ball fixed to it by a chain.
The Grave Warden Duelists were gladiators driven out of the colosseum. The snake was seen as a traitor to the Erdtree, and crowds delighted in seeing these bronze effigies beaten and battered. After their exile the duelists became wardens of the catacombs. Some of them were later taken by the scarlet rot.

Attacks
- Greataxe swings: slow, heavy blows with long recovery. A roll through the swing opens a punish.
- Chain attacks: the iron ball reaches farther than the axe. Ranged users need to dodge these extended swings.
- Scarlet Rot grab: a rot snake lunges out and inflicts scarlet rot. A roll back or a parry stops it.
- Scarlet Rot spew: a stream of rot sprays straight ahead. Moving out of his line of sight avoids it.
Tactics
- Bring Preserving Boluses to cure the scarlet rot his attacks inflict.
- Summon a spirit ash to hold his attention, such as Black Knife Tiche.
- Stay close and dodge his slow swings instead of blocking them.
- Step behind him after each attack and land a backstab.
- Use a bleed weapon or Blood Grease, because he takes heavy damage from blood loss.
- Magic users can cast big charged spells, since his slow movement rarely punishes a long cast.
