Jotun Puffs are swollen golden orbs that bubble out of the ground where the Jotun fell. You gather them off the floor of the Mistlands, and they are one of the few things there you can bring home and replant.

Farming

  • You can gather Jotun Puffs in the Mistlands.
  • Plant them with a Cultivator in cultivated soil in the same biome, the only place they will grow. Like Flax and Barley, they go straight into the ground without growing seeds first. One planting gives three Jotun Puffs.
  • Replant them with a Cultivator inside the Mistlands to grow more.
  • You can eat them raw, but the health and stamina they give fall far short of other foods in their tier.
  • Pick your spot with care: the giant rocks in the Mistlands can block out the sky, and that stops them growing.

One plant grows straight from what you gathered, in cultivated soil with a clear metre of ground around it.

How to Get It

Pick them by hand anywhere in the Mistlands, usually on the open ground between the rock formations. A Cultivator plants them directly with no seed stage, and each planting returns three. They only grow in the Mistlands, and only where the huge rocks leave the sky open above them. Eaten raw they give twenty five health and twenty five stamina, far below their worth as an ingredient, so save most of your harvest.

Notes

  • In real life, puffballs are mushrooms with ball-shaped tops that burst to spread their spores.
  • Since everything in the Mistlands is larger than life, the shape and size of Jotun Puffs next to their surroundings suggest they are more likely a kind of slime mould.
