Stand that same reinforced timber on end and you have the Wood Iron Pole, the upright of the iron-banded set in the Supports tab. Like its horizontal cousin, it costs two Wood and one Iron. Builders plant it beneath a long span or inside a tall frame, at the point where a wooden post would already be sagging.
How to Build It
Each pole takes one Iron and two Wood, and you raise it with a Forge nearby, which is also where you come back for repairs. Stability runs down through whatever touches the ground, and iron carries it further up a building than wood does. A column of these lets a frame climb higher before the pieces at the top start turning red. Rain eats at them all the same, so cap an exposed column with a floor or a roof.
