Maugrim is a Relic silver sword from the base game. It rolls +5-7% Quen intensity and +5-7% Yrden intensity. Copies sit in four quests, among them the chest at the end of A Costly Mistake in Velen. Its quests run through Velen, Novigrad and Skellige, and each copy rolls its level when it drops.

Its Quen and Yrden bonuses suit a signs build. It also rolls +1-2% bonus experience from monsters.

It has 3 rune slots. These can hold three runestones or one runeword, which fills all three slots of a sword.

How to Get Maugrim

• Loot the chest at the end of A Costly Mistake in Velen.
• Spare Salma in Contract: Deadly Delights in Novigrad, and she gives it as a reward.
• Loot the chest in the final room of The Tower Outta Nowheres in Skellige.
• Look behind an illusion near where Nithral is fought in Wandering in the Dark in Velen.

Maugrim Map Location and Quest Guide

---

The pin marks a chest in a flooded area of the elven ruins in Velen, behind an illusory wall at the end of the chamber where Geralt fights Nithral in Wandering in the Dark. The relic Maugrim lies inside, and a foglet appears once the chest is opened.

1. Enter the elven ruins with Keira Metz.
2. Find Keira again after her portal splits you up, and destroy the rat nests around her.
3. Follow the swallow images through the ruins and kill the wraiths in the old port cavern.
4. Dive into the octagonal pool and activate the horse symbol past the flooded passage to open the door near Keira.
5. Kill the golem, then open the hidden portal with Witcher Senses and go through.
6. Protect Keira from the Wild Hunt hounds while she closes the portals to the White Frost.
7. Kill Nithral. Keira then gives Geralt the Eye of Nehaleni.
8. Clear the blocked doorway at the end of the chamber with Aard, then dispel the illusion behind it with the Eye of Nehaleni.
9. Loot the chest in the flooded area for Maugrim, then kill the foglet.
