Location	Novigrad

Salma is a Succubus, one of the Hybrids. She lives in the city of Novigrad. She is behind a string of killings of the city guard and is the target of a level 15 witcher contract.

Lore

Salma's own words open her bestiary entry: "I'm not one to lie. Nor do I kill without reason." A witcher's investigation showed that she had killed several members of the Novigrad city guard. That came as a surprise. Succubi rarely commit planned, cold-blooded murder.

Succubi and their cousins, the menads, are unusual monsters. They feel no urge to kill and do not crave human blood. Most of them mean no harm at all. One thing drives them: a lust that never fades. They try to satisfy it with any humanoid they meet. Their "victims" seldom resist much. Still, the endless advances, pleasant at first, have driven more than one man to madness or even death.

That makes a Succubus a hard case for a witcher. A creature that wishes no one ill can still cause great harm. Salma puts that old question to the test: death, or mercy.

Behaviour

Succubi live near people, in small villages as well as big cities. They prowl at night, but a strong need drives them out of their lairs by day too. They court men and women, the young and the old, the ugly and the beautiful alike. Some take a special liking to priests and other holy men. They treat seducing them as a kind of game.

A Succubus kills by accident at times, carried away in a moment of passion. At other times she kills in self-defense. From the waist up she looks like a slender young woman. The look is a trap for anyone who expects an easy fight.

Weaknesses

Coat the silver sword with Hybrid Oil. Quen protects against her blows. Aard or exploding bolts break a Succubus's spellcasting, and Northern Wind freezes one in place.

Under the soft skin of her arms lie muscles of iron. A kick from her goat-like hind legs, or a blow from the thick horns on her head, can easily crush bone. Succubi are peaceful by nature, but a cornered one defends herself fiercely.

Contracts and Quests

Quest	Quest Giver	Location	Reward
Contract: Deadly Delights	Notice board	Crippled Kate's, Novigrad	Succubus Trophy, Maugrim or Succubus Mutagen

Salma is the target of Contract: Deadly Delights in Novigrad. The notice hangs on the board near the Novigrad docks. Sergeant Gilbert of the city guard tells how a group of armed guardsmen was slaughtered. A medic at the docks explains that the bodies show no claw marks. The clues lead to the back streets around Crippled Kate's, where a pair of hoofprints leads to the brothel's back door. A perfume bottle nearby leaves a scent trail to a locked house and a dazed man who has met a Succubus.

The way into the house leads through the attic from a neighboring roof. Salma waits downstairs, and she can be heard out before any choice is made. If she is told to leave Novigrad, she hands over a Succubus Trophy as proof, along with the sword Maugrim. If she is killed instead, her body yields the trophy and a Succubus Mutagen.
