The Foglet is a Necrophage that hides in the fog over swamps and marshes. It kills by trickery more than by strength. Foglets turn up in Velen, in Skellige and at Kaer Morhen, and they appear in several main quests.

Lore

A guide named Johannes Strudd gives a firm warning. If night falls in the swamps, stay put and wait for dawn. That holds even when standing waist-deep in water with leeches crawling into the trousers. Above all, never walk toward a light in the fog.

Fog is the traveler's enemy. In a forest, it can make a person lose the way. At sea, it can send a ship onto the rocks. Yet these dangers are nothing next to the foglets that sometimes lurk inside it.

Behaviour

Foglets have powerful arms and claws like the curved daggers of Zerrikania. Their real danger, though, is their skill at trickery and confusion. Often they do not need to attack at all. They simply drive their prey mad, or lead it into a bog. Then they wait patiently for it to drown in the muddy water.

Weaknesses

Coat the silver sword with Necrophage Oil. Quen is the most useful Sign, because foglets like to sneak up while invisible and strike by surprise. Moon Dust bombs work well against them too. Foglets can also make copies of themselves, so expect more than one shape in the fog.

Foglets appear in several main quests. In Echoes of the Past, Yennefer is fighting foglets at the site of a magical disaster in Skellige. More foglets appear between the uses of the Mask of Uroboros.

In The Final Trial, a boy's voice calls out from the shore of a lake near Kaer Morhen. Going to check on it is optional. On a closer look, foglets appear in the boy's place. Foglets also lurk along the way across the island in The Isle of Mists.

The ancient foglet Ignis Fatuus is the target of Contract: Swamp Thing in Velen.
