The Split Bolt is a piercing crossbow bolt in a Magic crafted variant and a Relic variant. The crafted variant deals 9-11 piercing with +10 silver at level 8. The Relic variant deals 13-15 piercing with +14 silver at level 13. Both variants belong to the early game, and shops stock the Relic one from level 20.
The Relic variant adds 4 piercing and 4 silver over the crafted one. Both variants add raw piercing and silver damage to a crossbow build.

How to Get Split Bolt
- Magic (crafted): Find Diagram: Split Bolt at a random diagram location, or buy it from the Fish Market blacksmith, the Silverton blacksmith or Éibhear Hattori. Each craft makes a stack of 20. Dead soldiers by the White Orchard griffin's nest carry 5-10 bolts.
- Relic: From level 20, buy them from the blacksmith at Kaer Trolde citadel or Éibhear Hattori. 10 are always in the gargoyle's cave during Wandering in the Dark, and 20 sit in each of the four Velen deserter bandit camps.
Split Bolt Map Location and Quest Guide
The pin marks a chest in the gargoyle's cave inside the elven ruins in the Mire, which Geralt explores with Keira Metz during the main quest Wandering in the Dark. The chest always holds a stack of relic split bolts.
- Enter the elven ruins with Keira Metz at the start of Wandering in the Dark, right after Hunting a Witch.
- Find Keira after her portal goes wrong, and burn the rat nests around her with Igni.
- Follow the swallow signs through the ruins and kill the wraiths in the cavern ahead.
- Dive into the pool to reach the horse symbol, swim through the flooded passage and use the second horse symbol to open the door where Keira waits.
- Head through the opened door and defeat the golem.
- Continue up the stairs. Where the path splits, take the right-hand way to the gargoyle's cave.
- Defeat the gargoyle once the door closes behind Geralt.
- Loot the chest in the cave for the relic split bolts.
