The Earth Elemental is one of the Elementa. It is a hulking giant of mud, clay, sand and rock dust, held together by water and brought to life by magic. One guards a hidden chamber below the laboratory of the druid Ermion at Kaer Trolde in Skellige.

Lore

A bounty hunter named Nino Murk opens the bestiary entry with simple advice. The best way to survive meeting an Earth Elemental is to run, as fast as possible.

That advice is sound. An Earth Elemental looks slow and clumsy, yet it is dangerous and best avoided at all costs. It kills men with shocking ease. It smashes them with its fists or hurls huge stones at them. Its body can take a tremendous amount of punishment before it crumbles.

Behaviour

An Earth Elemental is a creature of sheer mass. Its great weight makes it almost impossible to knock off balance. It is also immune to bleeding, to poison and even to fire.

Weaknesses

Coat the silver sword with Elementa Oil. Bring plenty of Dimeritium Bombs. Dimeritium dust is the one thing an Earth Elemental is truly weak to. Quen absorbs the worst of its heavy blows.

This is a long fight that rewards patience. Strong attacks do more damage than fast ones against its rocky body. When it swings or leaps, roll instead of dodging. Its jump attack reaches a long way, and only a roll carries clear of it.

An Earth Elemental is fought in The King is Dead - Long Live the King, a main quest in Skellige. During the wake for King Bran at Kaer Trolde, Yennefer breaks into the laboratory of the druid Ermion. She wants an artifact called the Mask of Uroboros. A goblet of mead placed in the hand of a statue opens a secret passage to a cavern. When Yennefer takes the mask, the Earth Elemental guarding it attacks.
