Ursine Steel Sword - Superior is the Superior tier of the Ursine (Bear School) steel sword, witcher gear from the base game. It deals 256-312 damage at level 30 with +15% adrenaline gain and +50% crit damage. Its diagram is at the Ruined Tower south of Downwarren in Velen. It arrives late in the game.
The adrenaline gain suits an adrenaline build. It also gives +5% bonus experience from humans and nonhumans. Its 3 rune slots hold three runestones or one runeword, which fills all three slots of a sword.
As an Ursine piece it belongs to a set whose bonuses reward Quen.
Set Bonus
The Ursine set is heavy armor. It has five tiers: Basic at level 20, Enhanced at 25, Superior at 30, Mastercrafted at 34 and Grandmaster at 40. 3 pieces: when a Quen shield breaks, a new one may cast at no stamina cost, with the chance rising by 5% per set piece. 6 pieces: damage from abilities that involve Quen rises by 200%. These bonuses come from Grandmaster pieces worn as a set.

The pin marks the Ruined Tower south of Downwarren in Velen, where an earth elemental can stand guard. The Ursine Steel Sword - Superior diagram sits in a chest on the broken floor on the east side, half hidden behind a large tree and a bush. It turns up during Scavenger Hunt: Bear School Gear Upgrade Diagrams - Part 3, and a journeyman blacksmith crafts the sword from it.
- Start Scavenger Hunt: Bear School Gear Upgrade Diagrams - Part 3 by finding any of its diagrams, or by buying Ibrahim Savi's third map from the armorer at Kaer Trolde.
- Go to the Ruined Tower south of Downwarren.
- Kill the earth elemental if it guards the tower.
- Search the broken floor pieces on the east side.
- Loot the chest half hidden behind a large tree and a bush for the steel sword diagram.

Notes
In NG+ the diagram makes Legendary Ursine Steel Sword - Superior instead. It needs level 30 plus the NG+ starting level, deals 263.2-321.6 damage at level 31 and gives +23% adrenaline gain and +100% crit damage.
