Discount Doc is a cyberpsycho sighting for Regina Jones on a construction site in Rancho Coronado, Santo Domingo. The site manager bought cheap military cyberware for his workers, with no warranty and no questions asked, and sold it to them on loans. One of them, Chase Coley, wears a military exoskeleton his body could never handle, and now he is tearing the building apart.
Story
Honest Work
The journal praises construction work: a breeze on the face, sun on the shoulders, no creepy corpo smell, and real results to show the world. Good, honest work. But Night City always finds a way to ruin things.
No Questions Asked
Mails on the site tell how. The manager told his supplier he did not care about warnings, restrictions or terms of use. The implants could come from old military bases or a back alley ripper's dumpster, as long as the hydraulics could lift two tonnes. His people would buy whatever he sold them. In a memo, he scolds a worker who keeps complaining: he got them decent implants and a low rate loan out of the kindness of his heart, and if not for the worker's family, Mary and Charlie, he would have fired him long ago.
The Doctor's Warning
On Chase, V finds a message from a doctor. His Mary got him there at the last possible moment. His body is rejecting the implants. They are military grade, meant only for trained soldiers, not for civilians. The doctor can prescribe painkillers, but warns that the pain is his body's warning. If he keeps using the chrome, he could break his spine and never move on his own again.
Send a Crew
A shard on one of the men fighting Chase is the manager's panicked message to his supplier. One of his workers went cyberpsycho thanks to the exoskeleton, and is wrecking the building, his life's work. Either the supplier sends a quick response crew to deal with him, or the manager calls the police, and neither of them wants the NCPD asking questions.
