Ebunike Docks

Ebunike Docks
Type Docks
Region Watson
Sub-district Northside

The Ebunike Docks are a fortified harbour in the Northside Industrial District. Maelstrom run them and use them for their overseas drug trade. They are named after the old cargo ship Ebunike, which still sits in a drydock wrapped in scaffolding. For years the ship was one of Adam Smasher's hideouts.

History

A Corporate Port

The docks were built on the shore of Estero Bay so the corporations of Watson could ship goods without using the nomad port. Ships still paid a fee to the Thelas nomads who ran the main port, but they could unload here without mixing their cargo with anyone else's. Dock workers unloaded goods from Asia and trucked them to the factories of Watson. Tanker trucks also filled up here with CHOOH2 for the fuel stations of the Badlands.

For a time the docks were among the most important ports in the city. Their workers drank at a nearby pub whose owner gave them shots of stimulants to stay awake through a triple shift.

The Ship

Nobody is quite sure where the name comes from. Some say it honours Mbole Ebunike, a former mayor of Night City. Others say it comes from the ship of the same name, anchored here for years. The Ebunike was moved into a drydock to wait for repairs that never came, and its scaffolding has become a permanent fixture. Today the name stands for the whole harbour.

Maelstrom

Later Maelstrom took over the whole site and turned it into a fortress. The gang rotates its ships and forges its own papers. Each cargo is unloaded at once and taken to other gang sites in Northside, so nothing illegal stays at the docks for long. Even a police raid is unlikely to find anything.

Life in Ebunike Docks

Adam Smasher made a deal with Maelstrom to use the old ship as a hideout. Some gangers did not like taking orders from him, and a few of them died before the rest gave in. His right hand, Jeremiah Grayson, runs things from the ship. Johnny Silverhand's old Porsche is stored in one of the containers, and Grayson is trying to sell it to a collector named Aymeric Cassel.

Jobs

Rogue and V storm the docks in Chippin' In, looking for Adam Smasher. They find Grayson instead and question him about Smasher and the place of Johnny's grave. Before leaving, V takes the Porsche, as Johnny asked.
