Northside is the old industrial heart of Watson, officially the Northside Industrial District. Its factories have mostly stopped, its streets belong to Maelstrom, and Totentanz is the bar where the gang drinks. One of V's rental apartments is here.
History
Northside was once Watson's prosperous factory district. Earthquake damage and a lack of investment from the Japanese corporations that funded it left most of its plants broken and empty.
New apartment blocks went up along the edge of the district to hide the decay from the rest of the city. They house the mid level staff who manage the few factories still running.

Life in Northside
People came to Northside for factory work and found themselves stuck there. The docks still move cargo, and the district is full of warehouses, scrapyards and workshops.
For the gangs it is perfect. Abandoned buildings serve as hideouts, illegal braindance studios and stores for goods stolen from corporate convoys.
A row of tall apartment towers cuts through the middle of the district. They were built on purpose to hide the depressing view from wealthier people. The workers who live in them hope only that their employers stay open, because they see no future outside the district. A local saying goes: "Once you're in Northside, there is no out." Many people also take it as a warning about the stray bullets of Maelstrom.
Cargo Bay is a shady market in Northside run by the Scavengers. Its sellers trade from old shipping containers, and most of what they sell has been smuggled in.

Maelstrom claims Northside as its territory and uses its ruins as bases. The Mox and the Scavengers are active here too.
