Going Up or Down? is a Thievery gig from Padre in the Glen, Heywood, and this time Padre himself is the client. Megabuilding H1 on Congress Street is a crumbling tower that only stands thanks to El Gallo, its brilliant techie. But El Gallo is lost to drugs, and he stole a set of rare, expensive scandium rods from a corporate warehouse. Padre wants them before the junkie pawns them.

Story

A City within a City

Padre explains in the journal that this is no ordinary gig, as the client is Padre himself. Megabuilding H1 in the Glen is a city within a city, a crumbling tower of concrete and faulty wiring. That it has not collapsed already is thanks to a man named El Gallo, a brilliant techie. Was, Padre corrects himself.

It is the same old story. El Gallo has a drug problem, a big one. He has lost touch with reality, drifting from one hit to the next, and is in no state to fix even a creaky door. Somehow he has convinced himself that everything will be better once he has scandium rods, so he stole some from a corporate warehouse. The rods are rare and very expensive, and Padre does not want them wasted. The access code to H1 is taken care of. V is to get the rods from El Gallo, any way V likes.

El Gallo

El Gallo works alone in his workshop in the basement of the building, with no guards around. He believes he needs the rods to fix the building's lift.

Going Up or Down? Map Location and Walkthrough

The map shows Megabuilding H1, where the job takes place.

Going Up or Down? map location:

  1. Go to Megabuilding H1 on Congress Street in the Glen.
  2. Take the door on the left, by a homeless man, and head down to El Gallo's workshop in the basement.
  3. Look for the scandium rods.
  4. Talk to El Gallo. With enough Technical Ability, convince him he does not need the rods to fix the lift, and take them from the cache.
  5. Or neutralise El Gallo and take the rods from him.
  6. Or steal the rods without talking to him.
  7. Go outside.
  8. Deposit the scandium rods in the drop point outside the building.

Tips

If El Gallo spots V after V steals the rods without talking to him, he grows suspicious and then attacks. Killing or knocking him out does not change the result.
