Gustavo Orta is a high-ranking member of the Valentinos and a relative of the gang's leader. Anyone who opens an encyclopedia at the word Valentinos should find his picture there, or more likely his mugshot. One look at him shows he is a Valentino through and through. His ruthless style carried him to the top of the gang, but lately he has been acting strangely.
Biography
Jackie's Friend
Gustavo and Jackie Welles joined the Valentinos together and became fast friends. Jackie later left the gang, while Gustavo's ruthlessness and his family ties helped him rise through its ranks. He made a name for himself by driving the gang's rivals out of Heywood without mercy.
Martha
By the time of the story, Gustavo has mellowed, and his stony manner has softened. The reason is Martha Frakes, the daughter of a senior member of 6th Street, the Valentinos' bitter rivals. He comes to Jackie's ofrenda with a group of Valentinos, and Martha comes with him in disguise as one of the gang. V can raise a glass to Jackie with them.
Some time later, 6th Street ambushes Gustavo to kill him. Martha is shot in the head during the attack and left in a coma. Her father, Nolan Frakes, does not know she was there and blames Gustavo for her injury. He asks Padre to find someone to kill Gustavo, and Padre offers the contract to V.
Personality
Gustavo is proud, tough and loyal to his gang and his friends. His love for Martha has made him gentler and more thoughtful. Her injury leaves him broken by grief and guilt.
Relationships
Jackie Welles was his friend from their days in the Valentinos. Martha Frakes is the woman he loves. Nolan Frakes is her father and wants him dead. Padre passes on the contract against him.
Jobs
Gustavo is the target of Bring Me the Head of Gustavo Orta, a gig from Padre. He also attends Heroes, the ofrenda for Jackie.

V can reach Gustavo by force, by stealth or by talking past his guards. V can kill him, or knock him out and leave him in the trunk of a car for Padre's people. If V reaches him peacefully and talks with him in his office, Padre later calls to say Gustavo has taken his own life.
