Life's Work is a Search and Recover gig from Padre in the Glen, Heywood. Jake Estevez is a brilliant techie with a terrible character. He spent two weeks building a custom car for 6th Street, his "life's work", software and all, then angered the wrong people in the gang and had to run. Now he wants the car back, and it sits in the 6th Street auto shop on McBride Street.
Story
A Genius and a Jerk
Padre asks in the journal why it seems to be an unwritten law that every talented techie has a rotten character. Only God knows. Jake Estevez is a genius among techies and a jerk among jerks. Fifteen minutes with him, and Padre had a gun to his head. The good news is that they found a way to get along.
Jake has worked as a mechanic for 6th Street for about two weeks. Padre is no friend of the gang, but grudgingly admires their patience, a virtue after all. In that time, Jake built a custom car for them, his life's work, and wrote its software too. Then, true to his character, he upset the wrong people in the gang and had to vanish. Now he wants his precious car back. V is to go to the 6th Street shop, upload Padre's virus, and bring it to him. Padre promises extra for an unscratched car.
The Auto Shop
The car, a pickup truck, stands on the ground floor of the shop. To start it, V has to upload the software on the computer in the office on the second floor, past gangers on both floors.
Life's Work Map Location and Walkthrough
Life's Work map location:
- Go to the 6th Street auto shop on McBride Street in the Glen.
- Deal with the gangers on the ground floor and go up the stairs.
- Take out the two gangers upstairs, one by the stairs and one in the office.
- Upload the software to start the car on the office computer.
- Go back down and get into Jake's car.
- Drive the car to Jake Estevez's garage.
- Get out and talk to Jake.
- Leave the garage.

Choices
Quiet or Loud
Getting the car out with a fight angers 6th Street. If V later visits their party in Stadium Love, one of the gang there recognises V and starts a fight.
Rewards
Completing Life's Work pays €$ 8,030, 1,000 experience and 1,710 Street Cred.
The gig pays eddies, experience and Street Cred.
Tips
Despite Padre's promise, damage to the car does not change the payment.
