Rayfield is a British maker of luxury cars and the most expensive badge in Night City. Its sports cars and limousines are built to a standard nothing else on the road matches, and its technologies are licensed to half the industry. The Aerondight is the company flagship, and the Caliburn is the fastest car V can own. Every Rayfield is named after a sword from British myth.
History
Rayfield is run from Goodwood in England, with Charles Sutton Jr. as chief executive, and it sells into Night City the way a jeweller sells into a market. The company made its name on quality rather than volume, and its cars carry technology that other makers have to license.
CrystalDome and CrystalCoat are both Rayfield work. CrystalDome turns a windscreen into armour that the driver can still see through, and CrystalCoat lets an owner change a car's colour whenever they like. Rayfield brought Herrera, Mizutani, Quadra and Villefort into a partnership so that selected models from those makers could use CrystalCoat, with Kiroshi's livery cloning technology built into the arrangement.
The company also moved into the air. Its first luxury aerodyne, the Excalibur, put a Rayfield badge above the traffic as well as in it.
Vehicles
Rayfield builds two car lines and one aerodyne. The Aerondight is the flagship, a hypercar sold in a first edition and as the Aerondight "Guinevere", which costs €$ 155,000 on the Autofixer netpage. The Caliburn is the faster of the two and sells for €$ 135,000, with the "Mordred" and the "Murkmobile" as its custom versions. The Excalibur is the aerodyne, and it stays out of V's hands.
Notes
- Every Rayfield is named after a sword from British legend, from Caliburn and Excalibur to Aerondight.
- The Rayfield badge appears to take its cue from the real British luxury maker Bentley.
