Another Circle of Hell is a reported crime in Japantown, Westbrook. A netrunner called Dante took a gig to steal compromising recordings from a relative of a mayoral candidate. Something was waiting for him in the Net. His gear still holds the coordinates of his den, and his last cries for help are written in binary.
Story
Burned
The journal puts it bluntly. The man wanted to steal someone's data and got himself burned. Truly burned. But it could be worth following the coordinates in his gear, as runners like him often have good toys.
The Gig
The gig was data theft. The target was the home network of Brandon Holt, cousin of Weldon Holt, the candidate for mayor, and a member of his campaign staff. Brandon likes to visit Mexico for some dirty fun, and he records his adventures. The client wanted the recordings.
The Info Log
The Kendachi Micro-76 info log shows the run. It opened Brandon Holt's network, found a Mexico folder, and began to download. Then came warnings of an automatic antipersonnel response, a burst of garbled data, and a fatal error.
Help Me
Dante's last mails, to Chang-Hoon Nam, are written in binary code. Decoded, the first says he is trapped, and begs for help. When Chang-Hoon asks where, Dante answers: in the Net, and he thinks it was Soulkiller. Chang-Hoon does not know what to do. Another message carries a title in binary with a single word, "pomocy", the Polish word for help.
