Weldon Holt is the deputy mayor of Night City who becomes acting mayor after the death of Lucius Rhyne. Known as Rhyne's Bulldog, he is a seasoned political player who had eyed the mayor's office for years before it suddenly fell into his hands. He knows which strings to pull in the city and which to leave to the corporations. Like his predecessor, he signs deals with corporate executives and does not mind getting his hands dirty.

Biography

Rhyne's Deputy

Holt served under Mayor Lucius Rhyne and shared his friendly attitude towards the corporations. On the day of the Konpeki heist, the two meet Arasaka representatives at Konpeki Plaza to discuss plans for Watson. After Rhyne's death, Holt takes over as acting mayor and announces that he will run against Councilman Jefferson Peralez in Rhyne's place. Commentators, and Holt himself, describe him as a continuation of Rhyne's rule.

The Cover-Up

Holt knows the truth about Rhyne's death. The mayor was killed by a virus hidden in a braindance at an exclusive sex club, where Holt had booked him a private room. When the club's staff found the body, they messaged Holt, and he sent Detective Han to secure it and hide what happened, to protect Rhyne's name. The journalist Max Jones claims that Holt is in Arasaka's pocket, and some of his own associates say he takes orders from people above him.

Personality

Holt is tough, pragmatic and ambitious. He fights hard and plays dirty when he must. He presents himself as a loyal servant of the city while protecting his own interests.

Relationships

Lucius Rhyne was his mayor and mentor. Jefferson Peralez is his rival for the office. Detective Han carried out the cover-up. River Ward and V uncover it.
