The Union Strikes Back

The Union Strikes Back
Type Gig
Gig Type Gun for Hire
Fixer Rogue Amendiares, Rogue
District Rancho Coronado
Region Santo Domingo

The Union Strikes Back is a Gun for Hire gig from Rogue Amendiares in Rancho Coronado, Santo Domingo. The target is Vic Vega, head of C-Team, a private security firm that corporations hire to keep workers in line and break up unions. Rogue takes the job as a favour to the workers. What she does not say outright is that she would rather have Vega alive, and nobody else in the building hurt.

Story

Pro Bono

Rogue explains in the journal that she first took the story for bar talk at three in the morning. When three separate witnesses told it, and her informant confirmed it, she decided to act. Back in her day, she says, workers stood up for themselves. They had unions instead of fixers. With the unions gone, workers on starvation wages cannot afford a fixer, so Rogue does a little pro bono work for the public good.

Vic Vega is the kind of scum who lists "cracking skulls" as a hobby on his CV, and that is exactly what he does in Rancho Coronado, with the full backing of corporate executives who would rather hand their workers brain damage than a small raise. Vega and his people have been terrorising the whole neighbourhood. The workers have had enough, and Rogue wants V to end him.

C-Team's Building

C-Team rents an office building on Carsten Street. Vega works from his office on the second floor. The building has no cameras or turrets. Its guards and staff work for Vega, but they are not the target, and Rogue does not want them touched.

Rogue's Verdict

Once the gig is done, Rogue calls to judge the work and send the money. If V brings Vega out alive and nobody else gets hurt, she says the community has suffered enough, and chalks it up as a win. She grumbles if others were hurt, and is less than thrilled if Vega dies.

Getting In

  1. Go to C-Team's building on Carsten Street in Rancho Coronado.
  2. Pick a way in: the front door, with the access key taken from the receptionist's desk while she is distracted; the garage doors, opened with Technical Ability or Body; or the open second floor window, reached from the garage roof.

Vic Vega

  1. Find Vic Vega in his office on the second floor.
  2. Knock Vega out without hurting anyone else, or kill him.
  3. Carry his body out. The easiest way is to drop from his office window while carrying him.
  4. Put Vega in the fixer's transport, a few steps from the building.

Another Way Out

  1. Carry Vega down the stairs when the patrolling guard is out of the way.
  2. At the bottom, go through the security office on the right while its guard looks away.
  3. Leave through the garage.
