Tyger and Vulture is a Thievery gig from Wakako Okada in Charter Hill, Westbrook. A dealer called Vortex ran the machines of a Tyger Claws casino on Longshore South, and for years had them skim a little from every win for herself. When the Tygers found out, they tortured her, and she died before saying where the money was. Wakako wants V to be her vulture and find it.
Story
The Wisest Bird
Wakako opens the journal with a fable. The vulture is the wisest bird. While others waste their strength chasing prey, the vulture waits patiently, and only spreads its wings when it smells blood on the air.
V will be her vulture. A Tyger Claws casino was robbed by one of its own, a dealer known as Vortex, who ran the casino's machines. She programmed them to skim a small share, so a drop from every win landed in her bucket. It took the Tygers years to realise they were being cheated, and they were not pleased. But they went too far: Vortex died during questioning before she revealed where she kept the money. A vulture is wiser than a tyger. V will find it.
The Casino
The casino is reached by stairs down to the waterfront. Guests pay to get in. In the back, past the bartender, stairs lead to the upper floor and the casino office, guarded by Tyger Claws, a camera and a man lost in a braindance. Vortex's credchip lies on the desk next to him.
