Wakako's Favorite is an SOS: Merc Needed gig from Wakako Okada in Japantown, Westbrook. Chang Hoon Nam, an old netrunner and one of Wakako's hand picked crew, has never once let her down. Now he has gone silent. He keeps his gear in the basement of the Ginger Panda restaurant on Crescent Street, and Wakako wants him found, alive.
Story
Sentimental
Wakako writes in the journal that she has worked for years to get jobs done comfortably, with a crew she chose herself. She picked Chang Hoon Nam years ago, and he has never let her down. She does not know what happened to him, but V has to bring him back. He keeps his gear in the basement of the Chinese restaurant, and sometimes takes a side job or two there. Wakako thinks he is still alive. If he were dead, she says, he is the type who would come back as a ghost to apologise, like in the tales from the old country that make her sick. He is sentimental like that.
The Basement
The stairs down are rigged with mines. In the basement, Chang Hoon Nam sits in his netrunner chair, unresponsive but alive. Stuck in the Net, he cannot speak, so he guides V with lights.
Chang Hoon Nam
Once V slots the shard, he comes back to himself. He thanks V, explains how he got into the mess, and tells a short story about himself and Wakako.
