The Briars of Sin is a Thorn sorcery in Elden Ring. It is picked up mid-game, in Liurnia of the Lakes.
Briars of Sin is a thorn sorcery discovered by exiled criminals, the guilty who lived in eternal darkness after thorns gouged their eyes, and Mad Tongue Alberich and the Guilty sorcerers wield it themselves. Each input costs the caster 80 HP and some blood loss buildup, conjuring a whorl of bloodthorns around them that deals magic damage and heavy bleed buildup. It can be recast up to three times in a row, and every follow-up widens the ring, so it works as a close-range answer to enemies crowding the caster. Alberich's set pieces and the Staff of the Guilty boost its damage, while the Albinauric Staff and Maternal Staff raise its bleed buildup through arcane. It suits bleed-focused spellblades willing to spend health for a fast, cheap area attack.
Effect
Wounds the caster for 80 HP to create a spiral of bloodthorns around them that deals magic damage and builds up blood loss; it can be cast up to three times in a row, growing larger each time. Each cast costs 6 FP and 26 stamina and takes up one memory slot.

Dropped by a lone thorn sorcerer north of the Artist's Shack in Liurnia of the Lakes, near a group of fire slugs southwest of the Fire Monk Campsite.
