The Maternal Staff is a Glintstone Staff in Elden Ring.

When to Use It

Shadow of the Erdtree. It is in the expansion, which opens only once Starscourge Radahn and Mohg, Lord of Blood are beaten.

Upgrades

Ordinary Smithing Stones carry it all the way to +25, and because it is not a Somber weapon it will also hold a grease or a weapon buff, which is a damage source the unique blades simply do not have.

Build

Its scaling runs Str at E, Int at D and Arc at C, so Arc is the stat worth levelling, and you need Str 7, Int 21 and Arc 21 before you can lift it. Any Ash of War and any affinity will sit on it, so its scaling can be re-cut towards whichever stat you are already levelling. It also boosts Finger Sorcery by 15% on its own, with no infusion needed.

Notes

Staff of Count Ymir, who made himself a Mother of Fingers. Carried for want of tail-fingers of his own. Enhances finger sorceries. The crystal ball, though representative of a microcosm, would not receive any sign.
