Alchemist Tower

Alchemist Tower
Type Place
Region Revelwood
Sub-region -

The Alchemist Tower is the home of Balthazar, the Alchemist, in the village of Lone Thistle in Revelwood. Its upper floors rise above the Shroud that swallowed the village. From here, Balthazar handed out remedies and rations and warned people away from the Elixir. Later, only rats came to his door, and the rats drew cats. Two of his quests send players back to the tower: one for his Mortar and one for a stray cat.

Where to Find Alchemist Tower - Map Location

The tower stands in Lone Thistle, in the Shroud of Revelwood. Its top floors stand clear of the Shroud and make it easy to spot. The village cemetery with its large dead tree lies nearby. The Elixir Well east of Lone Thistle is a short way off.

Quests

In The Alchemist's Mortar, the Mortar lies in a laboratory below the tower. The laboratory door is locked, and a hidden button somewhere in the tower opens it. The quest notes that Balthazar felt pain each time he used that button. Placing the Mortar in the base unlocks new recipes. In Cat Search, the Alchemist recalls that his rat problem attracted cats. Taming the stray in the tower takes Cat Food Bait, crafted with the Farmer. Once tamed, Tyger lives in the base and wants a cat bowl and a cat bed.

Unique Loot

Hailscourge is a one-handed lore sword with an icy blade. Its resting place is a rubble-covered grave under the large dead tree in the Lone Thistle cemetery. A villager's note explains that the sword was cursed and that its last owner was buried still holding it.

Lore Pages

"Never Enough" lies on the third floor, almost hidden under big pots. Balthazar admits that people turned from his potions in their despair, and that his only visitors are rats. "Glider" lies on the roof. He writes of his love of birds and his plan to build a Glider and fly to the hills. "I Said Let Go!" lies in a house in the upper part of the village, surrounded by blight plants. Its writer blames a family curse for the death of Kasper, who would not let go of a sword. Kasper now rests under the family tree, still clutching it.
